LowDown Brass Band has built a highly-impressive discography, accumulating over 1.1 million streams across Spotify alone. Naturally its their live shows where the action really goes down, with notable performances at: the Montreal Jazz Festival, Winnipeg Folk Fest, SummerCamp, Vancouver Jazz Fest, Folk Alliance, Green River Fest, Chicago Jazz, Aspen Jazz Fest, Mile of Music and Alaskas infamous Salmon Fest. Theyve also had the honor of supporting Galactic and Bon Jovi, among others.
Their mix of second-line horns with hip-hop and reggae rhythms can make any venue feel like a delightfully sweaty street parade. Chicago Reader
LowDown Brass Band is heavier on the hip-hop swagger and lighter on the jazz, and also incorporates funk, neo-soul, Latin, pop-blues and reggae sounds into their brass sonicscape, a righteous fusion of bumping, high-energy marching band brass and beats, stealthy grooves and breezy rhymes. The Stranger
Kicking off the night will be a local world-music sensation, Las Noches. This band continues to put audiences under its spell with a seductive blend of west African grooves, funk and jazz. The brainchild of brilliant guitarist and composer, Aja Salvatore, Las Noches has made a deep impact in a short period of time. Aja is deeply invested in the musical traditions of Mali, learning from many of the masters in that region and is now sharing his gifts with the eager music lovers of Nevada County.
These exotic rhythms are built upon a foundation established by world class bassist Fred Doumbe (Les Nubians) and exquisite pocket drummer, Julian Fritz. Saxophone sorcerer Gary Regina has been a mainstay all over town for many years now, as well as touring all across the west. Hes as tasteful as they came, but also eager to rock the boat; especially when playing two horns at once!
